What is ExCEL?
ExCEL (Excellence through Canvassing, Evangelism, and Lifestyle) is a joint ministry initiative between the Literature Ministries Department and the Public Campus Ministries Department of the Michigan Conference. It seeks to train young people to become leaders in ministry. The primary method of training is door-to-door witnessing, using truth-filled literature.
The program attracts students from all over the country and imbues them
with the principles of evangelism as a lifestyle.
"Those who give evidence that they are truly converted, and who take up the canvassing work, will see that it is the best preparation for other lines of missionary labor" (Colporteur Ministry, 58).
How is ExCEL different from other canvassing programs?
Most of our young people come from public universities and desire further training in their efforts to serve as missionaries on their campuses. This venue offers them that training and ministry opportunity, while also serving as their "summer job." It also enables them to network with one another and carry over the principles of canvassing to their ministries on campus during the school year. Part of the training includes L.E.A.D.S. and a campus ministry focus all throughout the summer.
Who can join?
Ministry-minded young people who want a radical experience of faith with Jesus. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
Do I have to be enrolled in school to participate in ExCEL?
No. That is not a prerequisite to be part of ExCEL.
How do I apply?

How long is the ExCEL program?
It is a 10-week commitment, beginning in early June and ending in mid-August.

What is the weekly schedule like?
Our working days are Sunday thru Thursday. Friday is a laundry/shopping/team activities/free time day. On Sabbath we serve churches by sharing experiences, preaching, and singing. There is also opportunity for individual and group Bible studies and much-needed rest.
